Next, depart for the heart of Naples for a privately guided tour of its vibrant historic center, including a visit to the bustling Piazza Dante and the Baroque Cappella Sansevero to admire its magnificent sculpture “Il Cristo Velato” by Giuseppe Sanmartino. Along the way, glimpse into the gastronomic soul of Napoli with a lunch of authentic Neapolitan fare.

Today you will celebrate the flavors of the Costiera Amalfitana with an in-depth examination of the dishes and vintages that make this gorgeous stretch of coastline an epicurean’s dream. Begin the day with an immersive, hands-on cooking class led by a local culinary expert before savoring your delicious creations for lunch. In the afternoon depart by chauffeur for a scenic winery perched high in the hills above the sea, for a tasting of the producer’s small-batch vintages showcasing the local Biancolella and Falanghina grapes.

Day 4

Bid farewell to the Costiera and depart by chauffeur for the rugged landscapes and timeless hilltop towns of the region of Basilicata. Along the way, stop to discover the mysterious medieval town of Craco with your expert local guide before visiting the archaeological ruins of Metaponto, an ancient Greek settlement located along the Ionian Coast. After delighting in a lunch of rustic local specialties, continue on to the town of Bernalda for check-in to your 18th century palazzo exquisitely transformed by Director Francis Ford Coppola into the luxury five-star retreat that it is today. In the evening enjoy a special dinner dedicated to the regional flavors of Basilicata and Southern Italy.

Day 5

Set off by private chauffeur for the ancient city of Matera where you’ll enjoy a privately guided walking tour of the town. With its fascinating roots dating back to the Paleolithic age, your local expert will bring to life Matera’s fascinating beginnings and the history of its iconic Sassi, considered to be the first human settlements in Italy. Savor a lunch of traditional cuisine from the Matera province at a historic eatery, then depart for the wine producing zone of the Potenza province for an afternoon tasting of Aglianico di Vulture DOC wines at a noted winery.
