Sample Itinerary

Day 1

Your culinary voyage through Andalucia will begin with arrival to Malaga-Costa Del Sol Airport where you will be welcomed by your private chauffeur. Depart for the spirited heart of Sevilla for check-in to your 18th century palace turned chic five-star hotel. This evening you will celebrate the start of your Encounter with a sophisticated dinner of modern Andalusian cuisine at one of the city’s most refined eateries.

Day 2

Your introduction to Sevilla will begin with a visit to one of the city’s most colorful districts, the Barrio of Triana. A local’s only labyrinth of colorful houses, convivial cafes and cobblestone streets, embark on a private walking tour of this former fishing enclave known for its artisan ceramic workshops and gypsy heritage. Admire lovely city views while crossing the Puente de Triana bridge and stroll along riverfront Calle Betis as your expert guide explains the neighborhood’s lively history and tradition of crafting fine azulejo tiles. Next, enjoy a true taste of Sevilla with a visit to the Mercado de Triana, the district’s renowned 150 year old market. Sample local delicacies like luscious jamones, briny olives and freshly baked breads, before venturing back into the heart of Sevilla’s UNESCO designated center. Discover the city’s royal Alcazar with its lush gardens and palatial interiors combining Moorish and Renaissance architectural details, before enjoying a free afternoon at your leisure. Tonight, experience the spirit of the tapeo as your local guide leads you on a tapas tasting tour through some of the city’s most lively taverns.

Day 3

Following breakfast, set off for the coastal village of Sanlucar de Barrameda to discover the roots of Andalusia’s famed sherry production. Enjoy a private cellar tour and tasting at one of the region’s most storied producers of Manzanilla sherry, before savoring a lunch of fresh seafood and coastal inspired fare at a quaint eatery. In the afternoon travel to the fabled estate of a preeminent sherry producer in the Cadiz province. Embark on an exclusive private tour of their historic bodega followed by a tasting of the producer’s rare Pedro Ximenez sherry paired with local quesos (cheeses), jamon and olives.

Day 4

Today you will travel to the pastoral valleys and forested hillsides of the Huelva province for a day of gastronomic delight. Arrive at a rustic cheese farm to learn about regional goat’s milk cheeses before rolling up your sleeves for a lesson in cheesemaking, followed by a sampling of the farm’s most delicious specialties. Next, travel to one of Huelva’s most esteemed artisan producers of DOP Jamon de Jabugo. Enjoy a visit of the estate to learn how the region’s unique microclimate and native, acorn fed Iberian pigs produce this superior porcine delicacy, a tradition that dates back to the Romans. Tour the ham aging cellar before savoring succulent jamon while learning to decipher flavor nuances between varying cuts of the jamon. In the afternoon, visit an artisanal confectioner to sample a selection of their special fruit preserves, jams, and chestnut products.

Day 5

This morning set off for the UNESCO biosphere reserve of the Sierra de Grazalema, known for its rugged terrain and magnificent hilltop Pueblos Blancos (White Villages). Arrive at an artisanal cheese farm specialized in the production of a rare cheese made from the milk of local, indigenous breeds of mountain goat and sheep. After learning about the farm’s traditional techniques for crafting this prized cheese, you’ll delight in a sampling of aged varieties. Whisk away to one of the Sierra de Grazalema’s most picturesque White Villages for a lunch of rustic mountain inspired dishes at a quaint eatery, before having free time to explore the town at your leisure. In the afternoon, travel to a nearby cloistered convent known for producing a traditional dessert originating in the Cadiz province, where you’ll enjoy a sampling of this special treat.

Day 6

Depart the glorious center of Sevilla for the famed DO Priego de Cordoba olive oil production zone. Arrive at an olive oil mill renowned for its DO quality Extra Virgin Olive Oil where you’ll delight in a tasting of their prized golden nectar. Next, travel to the UNESCO designated center of Córdoba for a fascinating private walking tour of the city. Discover its ancient Roman Bridge and the city’s stunning Old Town punctuated by peaceful balcony lined streets and sunlit plazas, before experiencing the 8th century treasure that is the Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba. With its emblematic arcades of red and white striped Moorish arches, gilded Mihrab (prayer niche), and Renaissance Capilla Mayor, the Mezquita is an incredible journey through time, from its Roman origins, to its Christian and Moorish patrimony. Stop for a lunch of typical Cordobesa dishes in the heart of Old Town, then depart for the ancient city of Granada for check-in to your luxurious boutique hotel.

Day 7

With the help of your private guide, today you will embark on an intriguing exploration of Granada, beginning with reserved entrance to the city’s magnificent 9th century palace of the Alhambra. Discover the oldest section of the complex, the Alcazaba fortress, before exploring the wondrous Nasrid palaces and courtyards with their elaborately designed coffered ceilings, carved stucco, brilliant mosaics, and intricate arabesque and geometric patterns. Your visit of the Alhambra will culminate with a tour of the serene palace and courtyards of the Generalife, before traversing the site’s lush gardens adorned with citrus trees, complex water features and colorful flowerbeds. Enjoy an afternoon at your leisure, then in the evening, savor an elegant dinner featuring panoramic views overlooking Granada.

Day 8

Whisk away to the bold coastal city of Malaga to experience its sea and sun infused flavors. Today your private guide will be a local food expert, who will help you discover the gourmet offerings and vibrant products of Malaga’s Mercado Central de Atarazanas, one of Southern Spain’s most colorful markets. Shop for specialty ingredients like local seafood and seasonal vegetables, before traveling to the food expert’s own countryside finca (estate) for a hands-on cooking course on traditional Andalusian cuisine. Learn to prepare regional favorites like Salmorejo and Ajo Blanco, along with seafood dishes inspired by the catch of the day. Savor your delectable creations for lunch, paired with local wine, before returning to Malaga for a reserved afternoon visit to the city’s Picasso Museum.

Day 9

Bid farewell to Granada as you check-out and depart for Malaga-Costa Del Sol Airport by chauffeur, in preparation for your return flight or the next leg of your adventure.
