Grand Hotel Miramare

Grand Hotel Miramare

A brilliant, Art-Nouveau vision set amongst the glistening turquoise waters of the Gulf of Tigullio and the watercolor hues of Santa Margherita Ligure, the sumptuous four-star Grand Hotel Miramare is simply put, paradise by the sea. The hotel is a sundrenched vision in white with its intricate, frothy balconies of iron and gleaming stone colonnades all of which are crowned by aqua shutters that mirror the color of the sea and exquisite trompe l’oeil frescoes that gild the façade. A lush Mediterranean park filled with palm, pine and cedar trees, camellias, oleanders, lavender, jasmine and hydrangeas, encircles the hotel and serves as the perfect platform from which to enjoy splendid panoramic views of the sea. Located between Rapallo and Portofino, the hotel is situated on one of the most coveted stretches of coastline on the Italian Riviera and within close proximity to such important local treasures as Portofino, the Golfo Paradiso and the towns of Cinque Terre.

Built in 1903 by Giacomo Costa, the ownership of the hotel was then passed to the Kuoni Stoppani and Torriani families respectively. In 1945 the hotel was purchased by the Fustinoni family that today continue to own and lovingly operate this iconic structure that remains an important fixture of the landscape of Santa Margherita Ligure. Grand Hotel Miramare has 84 spacious guest rooms with most enjoying splendid views of the Gulf of Tigullio or the hotel’s sumptuous Mediterranean park. Each room is elegantly furnished and decorated in a color palette of pastel hues reminiscent of the Riviera itself. Recently renovated, a careful attention to the restoration of classic details within each room has been made, including the preservation of original stucco and wood flooring. Modern amenities like air conditioning, satellite TV, electric safes, Internet access and a line of natural bath products created exclusively for the hotel by master perfumer Lorenzo Villoresi, help to create a comfortable and relaxing environment amidst the Art Nouveau interiors of each room.

Nestled within its lush Mediterranean garden, guests can sunbathe at the hotel’s seawater swimming pool complete with personal sun beds, umbrellas and towels, as well as sweeping views of the coastline and a convenient poolside bar. After a swim in the pool, guests can enjoy a swim in the warm Mediterranean waters of the hotel’s private beach and beach club, known as Bagni Miramare, an exclusive retreat for hotel guests that provides private beach chairs, umbrellas and towels. Grand Hotel Miramare’s e’SPAce luxury spa offers guests the ultimate in relaxation through an impressive array of treatments and massages that can be enjoyed within the tranquility of the spa itself or at its outdoor gazebo facility. At Bar Le Colonne guests can sip a cocktail or savor a light lunch al fresco, and for dinner, Ristorante Les Bougainvillées serves fine Ligurian specialties prepared with a contemporary flare either inside its graceful dining room or on its open-air terrace. In the evening, The Barracuda offers an elegantly modern take on the traditional piano bar where guests can enjoy an aperitivo or after dinner drink.

A true jewel of the turn of the century, the hotel was one of the very first accommodations on the Italian Riviera to receive the designation of Grand Hotel and its fine tradition of excellence continues today as a luxury accommodation offering impeccable service, stellar amenities and warm hospitality.
