Perched in the heights of Cagnes-sur-Mer in a Provencal landscape minutes from the beaches of the Côte d’Azur, Le Château Cagnard is an invitation to travel in the footsteps of artists such as Renoir and Modigliani. Under the benevolent leadership of the medieval Château Grimaldi, it is nestled in an interlacing of steep alleys. The four-star property is set in a building of the 13th century, and carefully maintains its chivalrous legacy from vaulted fireplaces to frescoes consisting of elephants dating from the twenties.
The hotel's exclusive twenty-eight rooms and suites were completely restored in 2012 and are decorated in original period furniture. Each room and suite has been named after a prominent artist that has been associated with Haut-de-Cagnes. “Trompe l’oeil” paintings done by artistic painters from the region and various accessories have been carefully selected to enhance each room and suite with its own unique charm. Particular care and attention was given to the bath and shower rooms, which are furnished with stone sinks, earthenware pieces and heated floors. Amenities include WiFi internet, safe and minibar, LCD TV, and coffee machines.
The hotel's gastronomic restaurant, located in the original “salle des guardes” (the former noble guard's room), offers a panoramic terrace overlooking the stunning cap d’Antibes and a uniquely beautiful ceiling consisting of 200 original painted panels.
