Sample Itinerary

Day 1

Begin your journey through Occitanie, the sublimely secret Southern France, with arrival to Montpellier Airport. Be welcomed by your awaiting chauffeur and set off for your luxuriously boutique sanctuary set in the historic heart of a village radiating with charm. Celebrate your first night in Occitanie with a gourmet meal highlighting seasonal products and paired with Southern Rhone style Duché D’Uzès wines at your hotel’s acclaimed restaurant.

Day 2

This morning you’ll embark on a fascinating walking tour of the city of Uzès, an open air museum of medieval and 17th century treasures. Along the way, your Regional Ambassador will introduce you to the town’s Roman heritage and gleaming architecture immortalized in limestone, as you visit the Romanesque tower of Fenestrelle and Duchy of Uzès, an intriguing melange of medieval, Renaissance and 17th century architecture. Sample the region’s signature black truffle at a gourmet truffle purveyor before exploring the UNESCO World Heritage site, the Pont du Gard aqueduct, a nearly 2,000 year old feat of Roman engineering. End your day with a dinner of regional specialties at a quaint family-owned eatery nestled in a nearby medieval village.

Day 3

From your idyllic village retreat your chauffeur will transport you to the ancient city of Nimes where your Regional Ambassador will bring to life vestiges from the town’s Roman past. Experience the grandeur of the Arena of Nîmes, a Roman amphitheater dating back to 70 AD, before visiting the magnificent Maison Carrée temple, an architectural wonder built to honor the grandsons of Emperor Augustus in 2 AD. Your afternoon will be spent sampling treasures from the sea as you visit the lagoon hideaway of an oyster farming family renowned for their cultivation of the region’s coveted bivalve. This evening you’ll admire sunset across a landscape of gilded vineyards at the luxurious chateau hideaway of your dreams.

Day 4

Set off on an epicurean exploration of Occitanie that will take you from the garden to the vine. Arrive in lovely Narbonne, a former Roman colony and medieval jewel box of a town, intersected by the serene Canal de la Robine, where your Regional Ambassador will help you discover its bustling Les Halles market brimming with gourmet finds and a rainbow of fresh produce. Uncover the fine wines of Corbières at a family owned winery known for their old vine Carignan “Cru” vintages, before savoring wine country inspired dishes within the unique setting of a 1,000 year old abbey. Your afternoon will be dedicated to visiting the boutique appellation of La Clape, for a private cellar visit and tasting of the winemaker’s premium GSM blends. End the day in a captivating little village snuggled up against the banks of the Étang de Bages-Sigean.

Day 5

This morning be whisked away to the rose-hued capital of Occitanie, Toulouse, for a fascinating look at the city’s symbolique Place du Capitole and UNESCO World Heritage site, the 12th century Basilica of Saint-Sernin. From Toulouse you’ll enjoy a lunch of authentic cassoulet in the village where the beloved rustic dish was born. Take an afternoon journey down the remarkable Canal du Midi on a scenic river boat before ending your day sipping signature Carignan and Syrah blends at the estate of a boutique winemaker in the heart of the “Cru” designated appellation of Minervois La Livinière.

Day 6

Today you will uncover the art heritage and coastal charms of the historic Catalan region of Roussillon. Visit the quaint village of Ceret, a fabled artist’s enclave at the foot of the Pyrénées that played host to Modern artists from Picasso to Jean Dubuffet. Embark on a docent-led visit of the town’s noted Musée d'Art Moderne housing compelling pieces from the likes of Juan Gris, Marc Chagall, Miró and many others. From the mountains to the sea, you will next travel to Collioure, a chic seaside hamlet just 15 minutes from the Spanish border and a muse for Matisse and his les Fauves contemporaries. Delight in a Michelin-starred lunch celebrating the region’s Catalan culinary roots, before free time to enjoy Collioure’s breezy coastal energy and atmospheric old town. Your afternoon will culminate with a visit to a small-batch winery distinguished for its production of signature AOP Collioure wines and fortified Banyuls Grand Cru.

Day 7

Bid Occitanie adieu as your private chauffeur transports you to Montpellier Airport for your return flight, or continue onward to Catalonia’s Costa Brava for the next leg of your Encounter.
