Your in-depth immersion into Catalan gastronomy will take you from Barcelona, where you’ll roll-up your sleeves for a hands-on cooking class, to the fine wine appellations of Penedes and Priorat. Along the way, taste Cava’s fabled Macabeu and Xarel lo grapes and relish the bold Garnacha Tinta and Cariñena reds that have made Priorat one of Spain’s most exalted wine regions.

Sample Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive at Barcelona El-Prat Airport and be greeted by your private chauffeur who will transport you to your five-star, boutique luxury accommodation located within the heart of the city’s Barri Gòtic. Settle-in and rest a bit before savoring a dinner of fine Catalonian cuisine at a revered eatery offering regional specialties, such as coques and artisanal Catalan charcuterie. Following dinner, enjoy a free evening to begin exploring Barcelona at your leisure.

Day 2

Begin your day of immersion into the gastronomic landscape of Catalonia with a visit to the Mercat de Santa Caterina, where your local culinary expert will take you on a private tour through the market’s vibrant stalls showcasing fresh produce and regional delicacies. After touring the market and learning more about the ingredients that characterize Catalonian cuisine, your culinary expert will lead you to their professional kitchen where you will engage in a hands-on cooking workshop to learn how to prepare typical Catalonian recipes. Afterward you’ll sit down to dine on your delicious creations paired with wine. After your class concludes, enjoy a free afternoon and evening to continue discovering Barcelona’s bustling and cosmopolitan city life independently.

Day 3

Be greeted by your expert architect guide and set-off by chauffeur for Antoni Gaudi’s most revered architectural masterpiece, La Sagrada Familia, where you will enjoy an inside look at the basilica’s whimsical, swirling blend of Spanish Late Gothic, Catalan Modernism and Art Nouveau architecture, and its extraordinary spiral towers with breath-taking views of the entire city. Next, you will depart on a privately guided tour of the city’s Barri Gòtic (Gothic quarter) with its medieval architecture and scenic plazas, to learn about its fascinating place in Barcelona’s history. Afterward, stroll along La Rambla where you’ll experience the heart of Barcelona’s vibrant local culture before stopping for a lunch of typical Catalonian seafood. Enjoy the afternoon at your leisure before dining at one of the city’s most historic wine taverns in the evening.

Day 4

In the morning depart by private chauffeur for Penedes wine country where you will arrive at one of the most storied producers of Cava in all of Catalonia. Enjoy a private tour of the winery’s historic underground cellars as you learn about the beginnings of Cava production in the region and the wine maker’s own tradition of crafting fine vintages since the 16th century. Following your tour you will delight in tasting a selection of the winery’s signature Cava sparkling wines along with jamon iberico and local cheeses. After your tasting depart via chauffeur for Vilafranca de Penedes for check-in to your historic four-star hotel. Enjoy free time in Vilafranca before savoring a gourmet dinner of Catalonian wine country cuisine at your hotel’s acclaimed restaurant.

Day 5

Set off by chauffeur for a boutique producer of Cava, famed for their traditional winemaking methods that celebrate the local Macabeo, Xarel Lo and Parellada grapes. After touring the estate’s picturesque vineyards you’ll enjoy a special tasting of their sparkling wines before departing for a unique lunch of Penedes inspired cuisine with a contemporary twist at a renowned restaurant housed within a Modernist winery from the turn of the 20th century. When lunch has finished, you’ll depart for the production space of an artisanal chocolatier that dates back to the mid 19th century, for an immersion into the chocolate making traditions of Catalonia followed by a special tasting.

Day 6

Depart Penedes wine country via chauffeur for the UNESCO World Heritage city of Tarragona where you will meet your local expert and embark on a historical walking tour of the city’s ancient Roman amphitheater overlooking the Mediterranean, Necropolis, and fortified walls and towers. Along the way, stop to savor a lunch of Tarragona’s typical seafood dishes before departing for Priorat wine country for check-in to your posh cliff side retreat nestled in the inspiring mountain range of the Montsant Natural Park. After check-in enjoy the property’s outdoor pool and Mediterranean-style gardens before savoring a special dinner paired with regional Priorat wines at your hotel’s restaurant, featuring panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.

Day 7

Embark on a day spent appreciating the fine vintages and historic wine making traditions of the Priorat appellation. Begin with a visit to the acclaimed cellars of Mas Doix for an owner-led vineyard and winery tour followed by a tasting of their prized vintages. After your tasting, depart for the winery of an acclaimed small batch producer where you’ll enjoy a tasting of their superbly blended wines featuring the Garnacha and Cariñena grapes, before sitting down for a special lunch of roasted local meats, charcuterie and other specialties from the Tarragona province. When lunch has concluded, enjoy some free time in the town of Gratallops before returning to your hotel in the late afternoon by chauffeur.

Day 8

Depart for Barcelona El Prat Airport for your return flight home or the next leg of your trip.
