Sample Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive in Madrid and depart via private chauffeur for your deluxe hotel located in the heart of the city. Settle in for your first evening with a dinner at the world’s oldest restaurant where you will savor their classic gazpacho, roasted suckling pig and other Castilian delicacies.

Day 2

Set-off for a gastronomical walking tour of Madrid with a local food guide stopping at the Mercado De San Miguel to sample regionally produced wines, artisanal cheeses, olives and charcuterie. Afterward, partake in a unique cooking class where you’ll learn about and prepare traditional Spanish dishes from the region, before dining on your creations as well as specialties made by the chef.

Day 3

Enjoy a relaxing free morning before departing via private chauffeur for a Michelin starred lunch of Madrileño classics reinterpreted. After lunch travel to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Avila where you’ll meet your expert local guide and set off on a historic tour of its fortified medieval walls and Gothic cathedral. End your day in the wine country surrounding Salamanca in the Duero Valley, where you’ll arrive at your 14th century monastery turned five-star luxury hotel. In the evening savor a dinner paired with estate produced Marques de la Concordia wines.

Day 4

In the morning journey to Zamora to visit the cheese farm of an artisanal producer of traditional Zamorano cheese, and indulge in a sampling of this creamy delight. Afterward, travel to Salamanca to savor lunch at a storied eatery located steps from the city’s 14th century cathedral. After lunch, enjoy a private historical walking tour of the city’s UNESCO World Heritage designated old quarter with its breathtaking 15th century towers. Return to your wine country hotel and spa for a free evening.

Day 5

Leave Salamanca’s wine country via private chauffeur for a day of exclusive wine tasting in Toro and Rueda at two of the areas most celebrated producers. After your tastings, journey to Valladolid where you will enjoy a rich lunch of roasted meats at a uniquely positioned restaurant located in the underground basement of a nunnery. In the afternoon visit the final residence of Cristopher Columbus as well as the house of Cervantes where he completed his masterpiece “The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha.” In the afternoon be transported to your luxurious five-star hotel in the heart of the Ribera Del Duero, located on the site of a prized wine estate and a 12th century abbey. In the evening indulge in a private tasting of Abadia Retuerta estate wines paired with typical tapas.

Day 6

Spend the morning wine tasting as you visit the winery of one of the most noted producers of Ribera Del Duero before traveling to Peñafiel for your second tasting of the day. For lunch, you will dine on a feast of grilled meats and other local specialties at an authentic asador. After lunch visit the 9th century castle of Peñafiel and its wine museum before returning to your hotel for a free evening.

Day 7

Leave Ribera Del Duero wine country and visit the city of Burgos with a local history expert who will bring to life the history of El Cid and lead you on a fascinating private tour of its Gothic UNESCO World Heritage cathedral. Enjoy some free time to explore the city at your leisure, then whisk away to your four-star design hotel nestled in the heart of Rioja Alavesa wine country. In the evening dine from a special chef’s tasting menu paired with Rioja Alavesa wines.

Day 8

In the late morning, depart via private chauffeur to the old world wine estate of a boutique, fourth generation Rioja producer in the town of Haro. Visit the estate’s underground cellars while sampling the producer’s prestigious vintages. Partake in your second tasting of the day at a bodega owned by one of the grandfather’s of Rioja wine-making. You will experience the estate’s prized vineyards first hand and taste the producer’s finest wines paired with artisanal local specialties, before savoring a traditional Riojan lunch in the winery’s cellar. In the afternoon depart for the UNESCO World Heritage sites of the Yuso and Suso monasteries where you’ll enjoy a guided visit of these national cultural treasures. In the evening, travel to Elciego for a Michelin starred dinner at the Marques De Riscal wine estate designed by famed architect Frank Gehry.

Day 9

Start your day by visiting the charming hilltop town of Laguardia and enjoying a cantina wine tasting walk through the city’s quaint, historic neighborhoods. Your private driver will next take you to Logroño for a culinary walking tour along Calle Laurel where you will sample typical pinchos featuring local potatoes, peppers and artisanal sausages at the street’s most authentic eateries. After lunch enjoy a scenic drive through Briones before returning to your hotel for a relaxing evening.

Day 10

Depart Rioja Wine Country for Bilbao International Airport for your return flight home or the next leg of your trip.
