Sample Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive to Brindisi International Airport where you will be welcomed by your private chauffeur. Depart for the grand city of Lecce, endearingly know as the “Florence of the South” for its exquisite Baroque architecture and magnificent monuments. Check-in to your five-star historic palazzo located in the city’s Baroque center before savoring a welcome dinner of traditional Pugliese cuisine at an antique ristorante.

Day 2

Spend the day uncovering the Baroque treasures of Lecce while learning about its Ro­man past with the help of your local expert. During your privately guided walking tour you’ll visit Lecce’s historic core, including the city’s Baroque Piazza del Du­omo and Roman amphitheater dating back to the 2nd century. Along the way, stop for lunch at a quaint trattoria in the city center, before enjoying a free evening at your leisure.

Day 3

After breakfast your pri­vate chauffeur will transport you to the coastal town of Otranto, nestled along Southern Puglia’s Salento Peninsula. After being welcomed by your local guide, embark on a private walking tour of the town to dis­cover its beautiful coastal vistas, Byzantine churches, and 15th century castle. Stop to enjoy a lunch of freshly caught seafood and other local specialties, before setting off on a scenic afternoon drive along the Salento Peninsula.

Day 4

Depart Lecce for the stunning “Citta’ Bianca” (White City) of Ostuni, which dates back to the Stone Age. Upon arrival be met by your local expert who will guide you on a private walking tour of the city’s Old Town to admire its signature whitewashed architecture, aristocratic palazzos, and ancient fortified walls. Savor a lunch of traditional dishes from the Brindisi province before departing for the surrounding countryside to check-in to your charming four-star masseria featuring original 16th century trulli structures. Relax and enjoy the beauty of the landscape before delighting in a special dinner celebrating locally sourced produce, cheeses and olive oils, at your masseria’s acclaimed restaurant.

Day 5

Depart by chauffeur for a day of wonder and intrigue in the whimsical town of Alberobello. Be welcomed by your local guide and embark on a private walking tour of this UNESCO World Heritage site. Along the way your guide will bring to life the storied past of the trulli, the marvelous whitewashed stone huts that are said to have been in existence since the 14th century. Next, travel by chauffeur to the historic city of Martina Franca, for a lunch of delicious regional fare from the Taranto province. After lunch your local expert will lead you through Martina Franca’s striking old town center, characterized by opulent Baroque architecture, scenic piazze, and narrow passageways.

Day 6

Spend the day exploring the stunning seaside hamlets of the Bari province with your local expert. Begin your guided day with a visit to Polignano a Mare, known for its pristine blue flag beaches and ancient Greek and Roman past. Stop for a lunch that celebrates fresh Adriatic seafood as you take in sweeping views of the sea. Travel to the ancient port city of Monopoli to experience the charm of its historic core, and discover its majestic fortifications, including the medieval Castle of St. Stephen and dominating 16th century Castle of Charles V.

Day 7

Depart the countryside of Ostuni by private chauffeur for the neighboring region of Basilicata. En route to Basilicata, enjoy a winery visit and tasting at a boutique producer of Primitivo vintages before enjoying lunch at a countryside farm that produces its own estate extra virgin olive oil. After lunch continue on to the ancient city of Matera where you’ll arrive for check-in to your 18th century palazzo turned five-star hotel in the heart the city. Enjoy a free evening to spend at your leisure.

Day 8

Be wel­comed by your local guide and embark on a privately guided walking tour of the town to learn about its fascinating roots dating back to the Paleolithic age. During your guided exploration, your local expert will bring to life Matera’s Roman origins and the history of its mysterious Sassi, ancient stone dwellings carved into rock that are considered to be the first human settlements in Italy. End your guided day with a lunch of regional dishes from Basilicata at a historic eatery, before spending the rest of the day at your leisure.

Day 9

In the morning depart by private chauffeur for Brindisi or Bari Airport, in preparation for your return flight or the next leg of your adventure.
