Sample Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive at Milan Malpensa Airport and be welcomed by your private chauffeur. Travel to the heart of Emilia-Romagna for check-in to your luxury 14th century estate hotel. Day 2

Begin the day by experiencing the art of cheese making at the farm of an artisan Parmigiano Reggiano producer. Experience the "birth" of the producer's handcrafted Parmigiano, before indulging in a delectable tasting. Next, travel to the elegant city of Parma for a privately guided walking tour to discover its rich cultural treasures. From Romanesque and Gothic to Mannerist and Baroque, you will study the city’s history through its abundant palazzos, piazzas and churches. End your introduction to Parma with lunch at an exquisite 19th century restaurant that elevates the culinary classics of the region to new heights. End the afternoon with a visit to a historic countryside castle with an intriguing past.

Day 3

Whisk away to the gourmet city of Modena where you'll start the day with an exclusive tour and tasting at a 200 year old balsamic vinegar producer. Enjoy a privately guided historical walking tour through Modena's center to discover the city's UNESCO World Heritage cathedral, revered for its fine Romanesque art and design as envisioned by the great architect Lanfranco. Savor lunch at an antique osteria before setting off in the afternoon for a private wine tasting to sample some of the region’s finest Lambrusco vintages. In the early evening you'll travel by chauffeur to the UNESCO World Heritage city of Bologna for check-in to your resplendent five-star hotel housed within an 18th century palazzo.

Day 4

Delve into Bologna's vibrant food traditions with the expert help of a renowned local chef. Begin with a visit to the city's fabled Quadrilatero market just off Piazza Maggiore. Shop for some of Bologna's signature cured meats, such as mortadella and salami, at an acclaimed salumeria before visiting a local cheese monger. When your shopping is complete you will make your way to the restaurant of your expert chef for a private cooking class of Emilia-Romagna cuisine culminating with a lunch of your own creations. Enjoy a brief repose to explore the city at your leisure before returning to the kitchen for the second half of your in-depth cooking lesson, followed by a special chef's tasting dinner.

Day 5

Discover the sophisticated city of Ferrara with the help of your local expert, a resident art historian. Embark on a charming, private bike ride through the city’s most atmospheric neighborhoods and exquisite palazzos, and along its prized medieval walls. Stop for a lunch of handmade cappellacci stuffed with pumpkin at a locally favored taverna, then in the afternoon, learn about the infamous history of Lucrezia Borgia, the Duchess of Ferrara, while visiting the medieval Este castle.

Day 6

Set off for a morning of fine wine tasting in the region's boutique Colli Bolognesi appellation, located in the countryside surrounding Bologna. Sample superior Colli Bolognesi DOCG wines before delighting in a very special Michelin-starred lunch in the heart of wine country.

Day 7

Following breakfast, say farewell to Emilia-Romagna and depart by chauffeur for Milano Malpensa Airport, for your return flight or the next leg of your adventure.
