Held in the Piemontese town of Alba, located in the heart of the region’s truffle country, the festival brings together chefs, industry professionals and gourmands in one triumphant celebration of the truffle. Highly sought after and considered superior to French varietals, the allure of the Piemontese white truffle has enticed fans from across the globe to flock to Alba and take part in the festival’s many gourmet attractions. Visitors can sample and buy truffle products, celebrated local wines such as Barolo, Barbaresco, Roero, Nebbiolo, Dolcetto, Barbera, Favorita, Arneis and Moscato, local cheeses and charcuterie, and other regional delicacies, while enjoying exciting, traditional events such as the festival of the flag and the Palio degli Asini (donkey race). The festival’s main event remains an invitation-only auction where select participants can bid on the year’s finest and most valued truffles.
